Website cost: what decides the price and what you actually need.
Websites in Lithuania are quoted anywhere from a few hundred euro to tens of thousands. The gap comes from what the site has to do.
Why quotes differ so much
A five-page site that presents a company and a site that has to bring enquiries every day are different products, even if they look similar. The second one needs research, copy written for your customers, tracking, a fast build and someone to keep improving it. Most of the price difference is work you cannot see in a screenshot.
What is inside the price
- Research and structure. Which pages you need, in what order, so that a visitor finds the right service and the next step without thinking.
- Copy. The words on the page. Writing them well takes longer than designing around them, and it is the part most quotes skip.
- Design and build. The visible part. The price depends on how custom it is and how many page types there are.
- Platform. A custom build, WordPress, Shopify or a page builder. Each has running costs and limits; the right one depends on who will edit the site later.
- Tracking and forms. Calls, forms and bookings measured back to their source, and enquiries delivered where someone will see them.
- Speed and search basics. Fast loading on a phone, clean structure and titles that match searches. Cheap to do at the start, expensive to retrofit.
- Maintenance. Hosting, updates, backups, small changes. Ask what happens after launch and who pays for it.
What you actually need
For most service businesses: a home page that passes the five-second test, one page per service, a page per main region if you serve several, proof, a contact page that is easy on a phone, and tracking. That is usually six to twelve pages. Everything else can wait until the site is bringing enquiries.
Questions to ask before you compare quotes
- Who writes the text, and is it based on talking to my customers?
- Will I own the domain, the hosting and the code?
- How will I know which pages bring enquiries?
- How fast will it load on a phone, and will you show me the measurement?
- What does a change cost after launch?
The cheapest website is the one that works
A site that costs twice as much but brings three times the enquiries is the cheaper site. Judge quotes by what the site has to do, not by the price alone. If you want to see what your current site is losing, the free audit is the place to start, and our website service explains how we build.
